Fanning the Chicago Sustainability Flame

Chicago SkylineProfessor Tony Day, Energy Services Director at TEAM, presented a paper this week entitled ‘An Analysis of Photovoltaic Performance within Existing Fire Station Buildings’ at the Chicago based ASHRAE Winter Conference 21st – 25th January 2012. Attended by delegates from around the world, the ASHRAE Winter Conference attracts more than 2000 visitors. Tony presented a session which included CIBSE President Andy Ford, and CIBSE Technical Director Hywel Davis.

Created to provide an insight into UK perspective on sustainable buildings, the presentation shows comparisons of actual electricity yields with predicted performance, from 14 buildings across London between 2005 and 2009. An analysis was carried out to evaluate performance and financial rate of return of the photovoltaic arrays.
