Congratulations to the winner of our Festive Fun Quiz, William Anderson from the Moray Council.

Congratulations to the winner of our Festive Fun Quiz, William Anderson from the Moray Council. William wins a festive gift hamper including an excellent selection of Scottish foods paired with two special bottles of Italian wine. He was amongst only 17% of submissions who got all the answers right.

The correct answers were:

  1. The new Energy Management Standard is ... ISO 50001
  2. What is the typical base temperature for heating Degree Days in the UK?  15.5°C
  3. Megajoule, Gigajoule....what comes next? Terajoule
  4. ISO standard measurement for energy is ... joule
  5. Which is the odd one out?  MPAN, MSID, SSC or DVLA?  DVLA
  6. Santa’s sleigh was powered by how many reindeer? 9
  7. UK Energy Minister is? Chris Huhne
  8. The government department DECC stands for: Department of Energy and Climate Change

And these were the questions which caught most of you out:

Only 39% of respondents knew that “joule” is the standard measurement for energy. And over 30% thought that Santa’s sleigh was powered by less than 9 reindeer!  Ho, ho, ho! We also managed to confuse some of you with the new ISO standard for Energy Management. It’s ISO 50001, not ISO 16001, that’s the number of the British Standard equivalent.
