M&T Sigma software – Energy Monitoring and Targeting

The TEAM Sigma software is designed to perform all Energy Monitoring and Targeting (M&T) functions with a wide variety of data types, from utility invoices to self reads and high frequency data (e.g. half-hourly), obtained from fiscal meters and sub meters.

TEAM Sigma Functionality includes:

  • Database Management - Sigma can use a wide variety of data sources. See 'Database' tab for more details.
  • Accessing and Sharing Information - Through the Browser Interface and customisable dashboards, levels of access can be set for different users depending on their requirements of the system. See 'Sharing Information' tab for more information.
  • Analysis and Reporting - Sigma has over 200 pre-defined reports, plus a powerful Report Creator function, which enables you to construct your own. See 'Analysis & Reporting' tab for more details.
  • Exception management - ‘Management by exception’ is essential and saves time and money when dealing with high frequency data. Sigma enables you to set up performance targets to monitor your utility consumption using various analysis techniques, such as historic targets and base load analysis. If consumption falls outside a given tolerance limit at any time, it is highlighted as an exception and despatched by email if required. See 'Analysis & Reporting' tab for more details.
  • Issue and Event Tracking - Sigma’s integrated Query Management tools allow you to track issues and events such as queries arising during manual bill entry or electronic loading of bills via EDI, exceptions arising from high frequency data or equipment failure (ie boiler breakdown). It automates the process of tracking issues and events, making it quicker and more efficient.

Maintenance and support - Providing ongoing support to ensure customers get the most from their TEAM Sigma software is of utmost importance to us. Access additional functionality through wide range of additional modules:

  • Bulk Bill Checker (BBC) - Automatically import and check electronic Utility Bills in bulk using BBC.
  • Accounts Link - Import utility billing information directly into your accounts payable system, eliminating the need for manual input, duplication of effort, and reducing operational costs.
  • Tenant Billing - TEAM's Tenant Billing System provides organisations with the ability to accurately divide utility costs between tenants, cost centres or departments.
  • Raise awareness of consumption amongst building users / members of the public through use of a web dashboard or digital signage solutions.
  • Manage Carbon Reduction Commitment and other legislative requirements using TEAM CRC Module.

Database Management

Sigma can use a wide variety of data sources, from utility invoices (both electronic and manually entered) to manual meter reads and high frequency data, ie half hourly data from over 50 different sources including utility suppliers, data collectors, BEMS and data loggers.

The data is organised in an easy to manage tree view allowing you to replicate your organisational structure.

Database features include:

  •   Production and other variable data to use in analysis (e.g. degree days)
  •   Budgets and cost profiles for financial reporting
  •   Suppliers and contract details to assist with procurement
  •   Emission factors for fossil fuels and allowances for green electricity for reporting ‘Virtual meters’ (or  Monitoring Points) for energy and cost apportionment
  •   Security permissions allowing various levels of access
  •   Audit function records each users activity on the database

Accessing and Sharing Information

The Sigma browser interface provides secure access to your data through the Internet or your intranet. A Dashboard homepage can be customised to show only information relevant to the individual user. Customisable permission settings mean you can easily share information and control exactly what functionality every user can access, eg to allow site managers or engineers to browse data, run reports or enter meter readings.

Analysis & Reporting

To help you set performance targets, Sigma automatically searches for relationships between your data sets, for example between weather and consumption data.
Sigma includes a wide variety of analysis techniques, such as Regression and CUSUM, SER (Specific Energy Ratio), NPIs (Normalised Performance Indicators), Spike detection and Baseload analysis, which help to understand site usage and identify potential savings opportunities.

Reporting

Sigma has over 200 pre-defined reports, plus a powerful Report Editor tool, enabling you to design your own. Standard reports include:

  • Benchmarking/League tables
  • Period on period comparison
  • Targeting
  • Budgeting, accruals and financial

Exception Management

‘Management by exception’ is essential and saves time and money when dealing with high frequency data. Automatic exception management and target setting functions in Sigma ensure that the system routinely flags up any instances of overconsumption or waste based on previous consumption even without prior set-up by the user. This means you can focus on the implementation of energy saving projects rather than data management and analysis.

A manual target setting function allows you to define targets based on historic periods of consumption, linear and polynomial regression or you can build up your own consumption profile.
