TEAM and EDW compete in charity fundraising Dragon Boat Festival

TEAM and EDW Dragon Boat crew
At the weekend TEAM and EDW Technology entered a team in the annual Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival as part of an exciting charity fundraiser.

Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival brought together 35 local businesses to compete in a series of fun and fast races. Our team, the Electric Dragon Warriors, raced against other businesses including legal companies, logistics firms, IT specialists, recruitment firms, financial consultancies, gyms and the event beneficiary, MacIntyre.

We were proud to sponsor this event which raised money for national charity, MacIntyre who provide learning, support and care for more than 1,500 children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and autism.

Simon Miles, CEO of EDW Technology Ltd and TEAM Energy, said:

EDW Technology has been supporting this event since 2012. Our team has become strengthened over the past two years with staff taking part from both TEAM and EDW. It’s great to see so much enthusiasm from both organisations for this annual event.

Training really helped as the Electric Dragon Warriors reached ninth place at the end of the three heats.
Simon went on to say:

It was brilliant to score so highly on the leaderboard. Our team entered the semi-finals with a spring in their step but sadly didn’t get the coveted win. We’d like to congratulate all of the teams taking part and the event organisers, Gable Events, for making it such a fun day.

Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today – as well as the most fun! Up to 16 people paddle each 40’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and our helm at the tail steering a straight course.
