Time is running out to submit your ESOS Action Plan Progress Update
If your organisation is required to comply with the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), you are also required to submit an ESOS Action Plan and an annual progress update.

NESO publishes 2025-26 Winter Outlook Report
NESO published its 2025–26 Winter Outlook Report, forecasting a 6.1GW electricity margin, up from last year’s 5.2GW and the highest since 2019/20. The increase is driven by more battery storage, gas generation, a new interconnector, and growing renewables. NESO expects sufficient supply throughout winter, with tightest margins likely in early December or mid-January.
Energy price crisis for organisations
In a poll of more than 130 energy-intensive businesses conducted by npower Business Solutions (nBS), 54% said high energy prices are already denting their confidence in their organisation’s ability to thrive in the years ahead. Businesses are foreseeing higher energy bills due to increasing ‘non-commodity’ charges, including network, system and policy costs.

The UK Government has published the nation’s first plan to train and recruit workers for the energy transition, with a headline aim of doubling employment in clean energy and energy transition sectors to more than 850,000 roles by 2030.

Famous UK landmarks at risk from climate damage, Aviva warns
In their latest Building Future Communities report, Aviva has warned that millions of properties, as well as UK landmarks like Edinburgh Castle, could be at risk from extreme weather impacts unless strong action is taken. Major cities, like London and Manchester, could be at risk of surface water flooding too.
COP30 – 10 November – 21 November 2025
New technologies will be critical in ensuring that COP30 is not just a two-week international jamboree, but the start of a new era of climate action and delivery. Taking place in Brazil, this year’s summit is particularly important as it marks critical halfway point to 2030, when countries are expected to meet their climate pledges under the Paris Agreement.
Zapmap: 3,928 EV chargepoints installed in Q325
Zapmap reported 3,928 new public EV chargepoints installed in Q3 2025, bringing the UK total to 86,021 across 43,507 locations, a 22% year-on-year increase. Ultra-rapid chargers saw the fastest growth, up 51% to 9,290. Regionally, the Northwest led high-powered charger growth at 38%, followed by Yorkshire and the Humber at 33%. The South-East and Wales had the highest overall growth, both around 26%.
UK should prepare for at least 2C of global warming by 2050, says CCC
The UK Climate Change Committee has written to the Government warning them to prepare for at least 2C of global warming by 2050. The Committee has advised the Government to overhaul how it plans for climate adaptation, setting out longer-term roadmaps which take into account higher levels of global warming.
