Autumn Budget announcements expected to cut £138 from household energy bills
Analysis from Cornwall Insight has predicted that the energy price cap for households will fall by 8% in April, with an average reduction of £138 for a typical annual dual-fuel bill. This will be the lowest it has fallen since September 2024.

2025 was a record year for wind and solar generation in Great Britain. Wind was the biggest single renewable source of electricity, according to the National Energy System Operator (Neso).
However, solar-powered electricity rose by nearly a third on 2024 levels, helped by the UK’s sunniest year on record and the expansion of solar panels around the country.

UK making ‘good progress’ against fewer than one-third of key environmental policy commitments

Zapmap reports that 14,316 new chargepoints were installed in 2025
On Thursday 8 January, Zapmap published new statistics on public chargepoint installations throughout 2025. The release states that 14,316 new chargepoints were installed throughout 2025. It adds that EV charging infrastructure now encompasses 87,796 devices (116,052 EVSEs) at 45,033 locations spanning en-route, destination and on-street charging. The new installations represent a year-on-year increase of 19.5%.
UK Government unveils £43m funding competition for low-carbon aviation innovation
UK-based businesses, universities and innovators will be invited to bid for a share of the fund from February. It will allocate up to £43m. The Department for Travel said the competition will be open to any research and development (R&D) projects that could help to decarbonise the aviation industry in line with the nation’s legally binding climate targets.
