70% of UK Businesses Hit By climate-Related Revenue Loss in Past Year
According to the new Climate Commitments Report 2026 by Ecologi. The climate action platform surveyed 1,600 UK business leaders across 28 sectors to better understand the financial realities of climate change and the steps companies are taking to mitigate these impacts. Over half of businesses agreed that they are already being negatively affected by climate change, but 84% reported that they had experienced at least one direct impact within the past two years.
El Niño Under Way and Threatens Weather Extremes, Scientists Say
El Niño – the natural Pacific weather pattern that pushes up global temperatures – has officially begun, US scientists say. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has declared that El Niño conditions are now under way in the tropical Pacific, with sea surface temperatures having risen sharply in recent months.
Many forecasts suggest this could end up as a so-called “super” El Niño, and even be among the strongest ever recorded.
