How the MEES Regulations will put energy efficiency front and centre for organisations
In 2018 under the Conservative government, a new legal standard for minimum energy efficiency was applied to rented commercial buildings, making it unlawful to rent or lease a commercial property with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating below an E. From 1 April 2023, the rules covered all privately rented non-domestic properties. Despite the current minimum rating of an E required for commercial buildings, organisations should expect even higher requirements in the future.

Enhancing organisational sustainability with energy and carbon management dashboards
With net zero and carbon reduction increasingly becoming a focal point for organisations, support through energy efficiency and sustainable transformations projects are crucial to the success of a carbon reduction plan.
One powerful energy and carbon management software tool that offers to unite an organisation in supporting its sustainability goals is the energy dashboard. By providing near real-time data and insights into energy consumption, monitoring and targeting (M&T), and carbon management, energy dashboards can significantly enhance organisational engagement in nine significant ways.
Is net zero by 2030 achievable for the public sector?
For local governments across the UK, the pressure for them to achieve net zero by 2030 is increasing. However, with limited funding, resource and support, is this goal unattainable for local councils?

We have spoken with several of our customers in the public sector about their challenges, solutions and their optimism in reducing their carbon emissions.

Is your energy management strategy contributing to your net zero targets?
On the journey to net zero, energy management will play a vital role for organisations in achieving both operational efficiencies and driving sustainability commitments. Organisations must adopt comprehensive energy management strategies that address various aspects of their operations. In this blog, we will explore how organisations can use their energy management strategy to inform and contribute to their net zero targets and transition.
Sustainability Reporting
Sustainability reporting is a process that helps companies and organisations measure their performance in areas of sustainable development like carbon emissions and energy efficient technology. By measuring social and environmental impact, organisations can improve their efforts and demonstrate their sustainability legitimacy.

Fast-tracked grid connections could be in place in months under new proposals
Ofgem has called on network operators to get renewable, clean power and storage projects connected to the grid faster, whilst providing connecting customers with higher standards of service along the way.
The call comes as Ofgem sets out a series of proposals to overhaul the system for getting new projects connected to the energy system, speeding up the process and preventing it from being clogged up with unviable systems.
NESO Clean Power 2030
National Energy System Operator (NESO) was formally commissioned by the Secretary of State and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) to provide independent advice on the pathway towards the 2030 ambition. To support this NESO has produced its Clean Power 2030 report, which states that renewable energy capacity must expand significantly to meet clean power goals by 2030. To support the energy transition, NESO emphasises that significant upgrades and construction of new network infrastructure must happen at four times the rate of the past decade.
